Video Block
The Video block lets you embed videos from multiple providers or upload your own video files directly into lessons.
Supported providers

Video uploads require a Standard or Pro plan. Uploaded videos support MP4 and WebM formats, up to 250 MB.
Adding a video
Section titled “Adding a video”- Add a Video block to your lesson
- Select the video source from the provider dropdown
- Paste the video URL or upload a file
The default provider is YouTube. Slate automatically detects the video ID from the URL and generates the correct embed.
Captions
Section titled “Captions”Add an optional text caption that displays below the video.
Subtitles
Section titled “Subtitles”For uploaded videos, you can add subtitle files in SRT or VTT format (up to 1 MB). SRT files are automatically converted to VTT. Subtitles are only available for uploaded videos. For embedded videos (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), manage subtitles at the source platform.
Translations
Section titled “Translations”If your course has translations, each language can use its own video. While viewing a translation, replace the video the same way you would in the source language: paste a URL, switch provider, upload a file, or pick from the Media Library. A note above the block shows whether the language is using its own video or the source language video, and removing the replacement returns that language to the source video.
Captions and subtitle files are per-language too. Subtitles are not translated by AI, so upload an SRT or VTT file for each language you support.

Video in exports
