Audio Block

The Audio block lets you add audio to your lessons by uploading a file, recording in your browser, pasting a URL, or generating narration with AI.

  • Upload - drag and drop or browse for an audio file
  • Record - record audio directly in your browser, then keep it or start over before saving
  • Media Library - select from previously uploaded audio
  • Audio URL - paste a direct link to an audio file
  • AI Narration - generate voice narration from a script

Supported formats: MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, WebM. Maximum file size: 50 MB.

In-browser recordings (up to 10 minutes) are saved as MP3 for reliable playback in any browser or LMS, and they use no AI credits.

Learners see a standard audio player with play/pause, volume, progress scrubber, and duration display.

Add an optional text caption that displays alongside the audio player.

If your course has translations, each language can have its own audio. While viewing a translation, upload, record, or generate audio for that language, and the block shows whether audio exists for the language you are working in.

The Audio block integrates with Slate’s AI narration feature. You can generate natural-sounding voice narration from a text script, choose from multiple voices and languages, and preview the audio before publishing.

See AI Narration for details on voices, languages, and credit costs.
