The Video block lets you embed videos from multiple providers or upload your own video files directly into lessons.

VimeoPaste a Vimeo video URL
Google DrivePaste a Google Drive video sharing link
SynthesiaPaste a Synthesia share link
LoomPaste a Loom share or embed link

UploadUpload a video file from your computer

Video uploads require a Pro plan. Uploaded videos support MP4 and WebM formats, up to 250 MB.

  1. Add a Video block to your lesson
  2. Select the video source from the provider dropdown
  3. Paste the video URL or upload a file

The default provider is YouTube. Slate automatically detects the video ID from the URL and generates the correct embed.

Add an optional text caption that displays below the video.

For uploaded videos, you can add subtitle files in SRT or VTT format (up to 1 MB). SRT files are automatically converted to VTT. Subtitles are only available for uploaded videos. For embedded videos (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), manage subtitles at the source platform.

  • Uploaded videos are included in the export package and play offline
  • Embedded videos require an internet connection to play in the exported course

See Video Providers for more details on each provider.
