Image Block
The Image block lets you add visual content to your lessons. You can upload images, search stock libraries, generate images with AI, or paste a URL.
Image sources
Section titled “Image sources”- Upload - drag and drop or browse for an image file
- Media Library - select from previously uploaded images
- Stock Media - search Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay
- AI Generation - generate an image with AI (250 credits)
- Image URL - paste a direct link to an image
Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP. Maximum file size: 10 MB. SVG files are not supported.
Size and alignment
Section titled “Size and alignment”| Option | Description |

Alignment
Section titled “Alignment”Images can be aligned left, center (default), or right.
Alt text
Section titled “Alt text”Every image has an alt text field for accessibility. Describe the image so screen readers can convey its meaning to learners who can’t see it.
Captions
Section titled “Captions”Add an optional caption below the image. Captions render as a <figcaption> in the exported course.
Cropping
Section titled “Cropping”Click the crop tool to resize or reframe your image. Slate preserves the original image so you can re-crop or reset to the original at any time. Animated GIFs cannot be cropped.
