AI Translation
AI Translation creates multi-language versions of your courses. Slate translates all text content while preserving your course structure, formatting, and interactive elements.
Supported languages
Section titled “Supported languages”Slate supports translation into 10 languages:
- Danish
- Dutch
- English
- French
- French Canadian
- German
- Italian
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- Swedish
You can translate a single course into multiple languages. Each translation is stored alongside the original content.
Translating a course
Section titled “Translating a course”- Open your course and go to Course Overview
- Select Translations
- Choose the target language
- Start the translation
Slate translates all text content in the course, including block text, button labels, knowledge check questions, and feedback messages. Media, images, and embedded content are not translated.
Reviewing translations
Section titled “Reviewing translations”After translation, review the results in the translation editor. You can:
- Browse translated content side-by-side with the original
- Edit any translated text directly
- Accept or modify individual translations
Professional review of AI translations is recommended before publishing, especially for specialized or technical content.
Stale translation detection
Section titled “Stale translation detection”When you edit your original course content after translating, Slate marks affected translations as stale. This helps you identify which translations need updating to stay in sync with the source material.
Stale indicators appear next to any content that has changed since the last translation, so you know exactly what needs re-translating.
Multi-language exports
Section titled “Multi-language exports”When you export a translated course, Slate produces a single export package that contains all language versions. Learners select their preferred language when they open the course.
This applies to SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5 exports. The LMS delivers one package, and language selection happens within the course itself.
Credits
Section titled “Credits”Translation costs 100 AI credits per 1,000 words, with a minimum charge of 100 credits per translation. The word count is based on the source content being translated.
